Stories and Insights from the world of Yoga

Dear Friends,

There is a theme I would like to return to focusing on in the Yin & Restore Series for the next 7 weeks - "Listening from the Heart".

  • As we turn our attention softly inwards with shorter days, longer nights and more stillness unfolding in nature, how can we find ways to alter this inner sensory landscape of our bodies, to navigate from a heartfelt sense of being, connected to ourselves, our communities and nature, in a loving way?
  • How can we find stillness, ease and peace in challenging times, often compounded by the change of seasons and the onset of more darkness?
  • How can we listen from the heart?

These sessions will take place online and in-person every Thursday evening (18:30 - 19:45)

To join online, register HERE

To join in-person in Bad Godesberg, please email me.

Our Themes for the next 7 weeks:

22.10 - BODY LOVE

Embodied Compassion practice through awareness and movement of soft tissue and fascia release.

  • What does it mean to embody compassion? Not just as a mental construct, but as a feeling tone within your body, so that it becomes you.

30.10 - YIN & RESTORE FOR FATIGUE & EXHAUSTION

How can we release the feeling of fatigue and exhaustion from the tissues through movement and touch?

  • We will focus on soft mobilizations, restorative poses, a stabilizing breathing practice, & calming forward bends, to bring calm energy back into the body.

06.11 - HEARTFELT PRACTICE

How can we transform fear into love, as we softly focus on the upper body and lower torso?

  • A practice to support the Lung, Heart and Intestine meridians.

13.11 - OUR VITAL LYMPH SYSTEM

Improving lymph flow in the body systems through:

  • pulsing, squeezing, twisting, tapping, gently moving & mobilizing. All connected via the breath.

04.12 - THE POWER OF PASSIVE INVERSIONS

Gentle supported inversions for:

  • healthy circulation, more energy, a clear mind, and spaciousness in the body.
What makes inversions so important for our heart health?

11.12 - THE ENERGY CENTRES IN YOGA NIDRA

Awareness of your inner life through:

  • somatic movements, embodied energy centre meditation and yoga nidra (deep sleep without sleeping).

18.12 - LISTENING FROM THE HEART

Closing our year with a focus on: embodied stillness practice while listening from the heart.

I look forward to sharing these practices with you.

Love Fiona

Seva project

In Yoga, SEVA (Say-va) is a Sanskrit word for service - how can we serve others and give back to society. Through my yoga practice and teaching, I aim to give back to my childhood community in a small and meaningful way. Since I grew up in South Africa, this is where my heart lies in an attempt to empower young children in the Lidgetton community where it is often challenging to have hope and see the light. Our small Angel Ruth’s Soup Kitchen is a space where the children can go for a warm meal, as well as to a space where they know they are safe and cared for, can play freely and learn.

I offer a percentage of my teaching earnings back into this community, knowing that is is well used and goes directly to the source. To support the growing needs in the Lidgetton community, we set-up Lucky Beans e.V. in Germany in 2015. Through our charity status we are able to offer the possibility of EU citizens receiving a tax reclamation from any donation you may wish to make.
